The state government has decided to provide an extension of 1 year for students who are eligible for various benefits under the Socially and Educationally Backward Caste (SEBC) category and who have to produce caste or income certificate to get the benefits under the same.
Students whose validity of the proofs for the same were to end on March 31, 2020 can now heave a sigh of relief as it has been extended to March 31, 2021. The state has also decided to extend the validity of income certificate for students eligible under the SEBC category for a year. The time period for eligibility of the certificate has been extended to May 31, 2021.
It should be noted that the non creamy layer income certificate is valid till three years and if the time period for the same was ending on March 31, 2020 then it has been extended by another year.
The beneficiaries need not approach the mamlatdar or even make an application online to extend the time period of the said certificates. The decision is likely to benefit over 13 lakh beneficiaries for income certificates and two lakh beneficiaries for the non-creamy layer certificates.
As schools and colleges reopen, students will not have to approach the mamlatdar office to get the non creamy layer certificates as the one issued earlier will now be applicable for another year.
