Gujarat recorded 1,681 COVID cases in the last 24 hours, the second consecutive day of recording less than 200o cases. Gujarat has recorded less than 10,000 cases consecutively for over 19 days now.
In all, 4,721 patients were discharged during the same period. Eighteen deaths due to the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours in the state.
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded four and one two deaths each while two deaths were recorded in Vadodara municipal corporation limit. Rajkot Municipal Corporation did not record any deaths.
Apart from the three major municipal corporations the other districts and corporations that saw COVID fatalities were Vadodara, Surat, Banaskantha, Jamnagar Corporation, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Mahisagar, and Bhavnagar Corporation.
The state at present has 32,345 active cases of which 496 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 7,66,991 patients while the fatality stands at 9,833. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recorded 264 cases. For close to ten days now since the second COVID wave began, the AMC limits saw less than 1,000 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 155 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 62 cases.
Rajkot Corporation limits saw 82 while Vadodara Corporation had 212 cases. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 12 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 94.79%. Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 8.09 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.35 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.41 lakh cases and Vadodara over 75,000 cases.
COVID vaccination status
So far 1.70 crore people have been vaccinated in the state. 54,406 people above 45 years of age got their first shot of vaccine while 25,758 people got their second shot of vaccine on Monday.
1.12 lakh people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in the last 24 hours. In all two lakh, people were vaccinated in the state during the same period.
