Gujarat government on Friday announced that it will offer merit-based progression to students to the 2nd, 4th, & 6th semester in all government and private colleges and universities of the state.
Students will be assessed for promotion with 50% weightage being given to internal assessment and rest on what was scored in the previous semester. In cases where practical exams were conducted the marks scored in the same will be considered.
This however will not be applicable to students in medical and paramedical courses. The announcement will bring relief to over 9.50 lakh undergraduate college students in the state. The exams in colleges had been put on hold due to the rising COVID situation in the state.
