Even as the number of Covid19 cases in the city continue to rise, the growth rate of active cases has, in a first, fallen below 5%. Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner (AMC) Vijay Nehra during his routine Covid19 briefing said that the earlier growth rate of active cases was 30% to 32% which had come down to 10% some days ago. But for the last few days this growth rate had fallen to 5% which fell below 5% for the first time today, he said. The city has recorded 4,022 cases of which 3101 are active cases with 30 patients on ventilators.
On the clamour from people to get tested, Nehra said those who have come in contact with a positive person need to undergo a week of quarantine and if they show symptoms they should get tested.
He said 1,437 vendors were checked by the AMC of which 1,409 were issued cards while the rest had shown some symptoms and hence were asked to quarantine themselves. The AMC had made it mandatory for vendors and other super spreaders to get themselves tested and get a card issued from the civic body if they were to be allowed to do business.
