Gandhinagar, is next in line after Ahmedabad to go under complete lockdown. Long queues of people waiting to buy grocery and vegetables were being reported from different parts of the state capital.
Gandhinagar ranks fourth in the state in number of Covid19 cases. Gujarat has seen a surge in Covid19 figures with Ahmedabad recording the highest number of cases. On May 7, the civic body in Ahmedabad had put the city under strict lockdown with even grocery and vegetable shops asked to down their shutters.
The new rule in Gandhinagar means, other than milk parlours and chemist shops, all the groceries, vegetable and other shops will remain shut. The police have been asked to be extremely vigilant in the matter. Gandhinagar on Friday reported cases from Himmatlal park in Kalol taluka while similar cases were being reported from Vavol, Jhundal, Chala and Randhej villages.
The capital recorded 14 cases in a day and the total number of such cases now stands at 110 of which 40 are from Gandhinagar city alone. Villages like Adalaj, Vavol, Jhundal, Kudasan, Bhat and others that border Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad have already been closed down.
