The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in a release said that shops selling groceries, vegetables, and fruits as well as flour mills in containment wards of the city can function between 8 am and 1 pm. The 10 wards that have been declared as containment zones in the city due to the rising number of Covid19 cases in them are Khadia, Jamalpur, Shahpur, Dariyapur, Danilimda, Behrampura, Asarva, Gomtipur, Saraspur and Maninagar.
The civic body has said the opening of shops in containment zones is subject to certain conditions. It has also said that home delivery in these containment zones will not be allowed nor will the fruit and vegetable wholesale market in these zones be allowed to function.
The civic body has clarified that the shops will have to ensure that they get the stock from the wholesale market between the said period and can do business during the given time only. Also all shops and their employees will have to ensure that they get the requisite health card from the civic body and display it at all times. It has also said that those living in the containment zones will be allowed to come out of their residence only during the time between 8 am and 1 pm. The residents will not be allowed to go to other zones or areas during the said period. The rest of the time, they will have to ensure that they stay at home. It has also said that no one will be allowed out of their house during the said period without a mask.
