Caught napping again as the BJP poached more of its MLAs, Gujarat Congress President Amit Chavda has accused the ruling party of using the babus to break the Congress numbers and buying its MLAS. Chavda in a tweet said that at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the party was buying Congress MLAs.

In another tweet Chavda said that in the midst of a pandemic, instead of saving the lives of citizens, Narendra Modi and Vijay Rupani were using the taxpayers money to buy and blackmail Congress MLAs. He also alleged that the Chief Ministers Office was using the IAS officers for its nefarious activities too. He said the government lacked funds to buy ventilators needed to save the lives of COVID-19 patients but had enough money to buy MLAs from the Opposition party.

Earlier Chavda had also said that all of the Congress MLAs will be present for a meeting of the party to be held later in the day.

Two more Congress MLAs had resigned from the party ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat on June 19 taking the total number of legislators who quit the party to seven.

Earlier five five Congress MLAs – Pravin Maru from Gadhada, Pradyumansinh Jadeja from Abdasa, Soma Koli Patel from Limbdi, J V Kakadia from Dhari and Mangal Gavit from Dang had resigned after the announcement of Rajya Sabha candidates but they had not formally joined the BJP.
