The cyber cell of Ahmedabad police nabbed a man who posed as a Google employee and hunted for potential victims on matrimonial sites. He would then have physical relations with them and also rob them of their money before escaping.
Investigations revealed that the man who posed as a Google employee with a Rs40 lakh annual package has raped and cheated several women.
The Cyber Cell nabbed Sandeep Mishra from Somnath in Gujarat. Cops said Sandeep had several aliases like Vihaan Sharma, Pratik Sharma, Akash Sharma among others, and would prowl the matrimonial sites for potential victims. He originally lives in IDPL township in Haryana.
What was the modus operandi of the rapist?
Police said Mishra posed as an employee in the HR department of Google on matrimonial sites and claimed to be an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
He would then contact rich women on the site and after taking them into confidence would send pictures of random people claiming they were his family members.
He would make random strangers posing as his family to call up the prospective bride to take them into confidence.
After extensive chats with prospective women, he would call them to a hotel and would have sex with them promising them marriage.
He would also keep pictures of the women and use their ATM to pay the hotel bill. He would then ask the women to foot his bill and buy him stuff and sometimes even loan him money. He would later dump the women.
Mishra was caught after an Ahmedabad-based woman filed a complaint of rape against him. Mishra called her to a hotel and raped her and also took money from her. Police suspect that Mishra has similarly cheated many more women.
