Gangster Vikas Dubey was finally nabbed from a temple in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. Dubey was absconding since he and his henchmen killed eight policemen who went to arrest him. Dubey was reportedly identified by a shopkeeper in the area and said to be moving around without a mask in the temple vicinity in Ujjain. He has taken to an unidentified location for medical examination and questioning, media reports said.
He was earlier spotted at a hotel in Faridabad but managed to escape the police. Earlier three of Dubey’s aides were shot dead in an encounter in the last 24 hours. Media reports said Dubey was spotted at the mahakal temple at around 8 am in and on being confronted by the security guard he shouted that “Main Vikas Dubey hoon, Kanpur wala,” when being taken to the police van.
Dubey has 60 criminal cases including murder, kidnapping, extortion and rioting agaist him. He was allegedly alerted by local police about the plan to arrest him following which he laid in ambush for the police leading to the death of eight cops. Since then a massive hunt was on for him and the UP Police had announced a bounty of Rs5 lakh for information leading to his arrest.
