The actress has been booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections related to promoting enmity between groups, punishment for defamation, and statements conducting public mischief.

The actor, along with an unidentified person, allegedly created a defamatory video about Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and other members of the Gandhi family, and circulated it on social media, according to the complaint.

Payal Rohatgi arrest in Ahmedabad

In June this year, the actress raked up a controversy with her alleged abusive comments. Residents of the society in Satellite area of Ahmedabad where she lives have alleged that she had posted indecent comments about members on social media. They claimed she later deleted those posts. They lodged a complaint in this regard at Satellite police station, following which she was arrested.

As per details, Rohatgi and her parents live in Sundarvan Apartments opposite Star Bazar. Dr Parag Shah has been the chairman of the society for past six months. The society committee’s annual general meeting (AGM) had been scheduled on June 20. Despite not being a member of the society, Rohatgi barged into the meeting.

Shah told her that she was not a member and was not allowed to comment. Her father was a member and her mother was already present there. In his complaint, Shah alleged that Rohatgi immediately started abusing the members and allegedly issued deaths threats.
