The AMC on Sunday night sealed four more eateries and restaurants for violation of COVID-19 norms. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has begun a drive to ensure that all business units in the city follow COVID-19 and Unlock 3.0 guidelines.
All employees, shopkeepers, restaurants and customers must wear a mask at all time in all business establishments. This is the condition under which they were allowed to open shop.
Which restaurants were sealed?
Three of the four eateries/ restaurants that were sealed are located at Sindhu Bhavan Road. Mango Restaurant, Poetry Restaurant and Birmies were among those sealed.
Gajanand Poha House near Vastrapur lake was the fourth eatery that was sealed.
AMC officials said that social distancing was not being maintained at the sealed units. Many customers were also found without a mask at these restaurants.
It should be noted that during the lockdown and post-Unlock 1.0 restaurants and eateries had made a representation to the Gujarat government to extend the time of functioning.
As a result, they were allowed to operate up to 10 pm. The night curfew was also removed.
The AMC that has been carrying out surprise checks at various places was particularly active on Sunday when more people were likely to be out. The civic body was keeping an eye on eateries, malls and other such places to ensure that social distancing and mask rules are not violated.
Earlier actions by AMC
The AMC has also sealed the Central Mall near Ambawadi. In all, it collected Rs32,000 as fine from South-West Zone while 7,000 was collected from the West Zone of the city.
The AMC plans to continue its raids in the coming days too.
Earlier the Alpha One Mall had also been sealed for violation of COVID-19 norms. It was later allowed to reopen after it paid a fine and agreed to ensure that social distancing and masks rules were followed.
AMC had also sealed a salon in Maninagar, a Brand Factory Outlet in Shah Alam Area and Reliance Digital showroom in Prahladnagar. The office of Savior Pharma in Sarkhej was also sealed for similar violations.
