A four-member team from the Centre is in Gujarat to review the COVID-19 situation in the state. This team comprises AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria, NITI Aayog member Vinod Paul, Director General of ICMR Dr Balram Bhargav and Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Arti Ahuja.
The team visited Surat in the morning to hold a review meeting with the local officials, including collector and municipal commissioner.

In the afternoon the team will be visiting Ahmedabad for the same and will also hold a meeting with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in the evening.

Gujarat on Thursday recorded 919 new COVID-19 cases and has now over 45,000 such cases. The state has recorded over 900 cases for the third time in a row.
The total death due to the disease in the state stands at 2,091. Ahmedabad has over 23,000 cases while Surat has close to 9,000 cases.
