Former CBI director Ashwani Kumar on Wednesday allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Brockhorst in Shimla. Kumar was found hanging at his home in Shimla and a suicide note was also recovered from the house.
Ashwani Kumar was also the former governor of Nagaland and Ex-DGP of Himachal Pradesh and hailed from Sirmaur district –one of Himachal Pradesh’s backward districts.
Media reports said he was under depression for some time. Teams of police and doctors have rushed to the spot.
Media quoted SP Shimla Mohit Chawla as saying that the news was a shock.
Kumar was DGP of Himachal Pradesh from August 2006 to July 2008 and then the Director of CBI from August 2008 to November 2010.
