Additional chief secretary Dr Rajiv Kumar Gupta, who is spearheading the fight against COVID-19 in Ahmedabad, has requested citizens to follow safety guidelines once the sale of vegetables, fruits, groceries and other essential items resume from May 15.
In a video message, the bureaucrat has requested citizens to ensure that only women and children go out for shopping of essential items from 8 am to 11 am, whereas men can go out for shopping thereafter till 3 am. Notably, the authorities have set a time limit of 8 am to 3 pm for shopping of essential items like fruits, vegetables, and groceries.
“This is being done to maintain social distancing and to avoid overcrowding at shops selling these items,” he said. Gupta added that the sale of these essential items will continue and therefore, there is no need for people to unnecessary hoard these items.
