Ahmedabad: Eleven-year-old Flora Asodia, a brain tumour patient who had been made Collector of Ahmedabad for a day last month, breathed her last on Wednesday.
The class 7 student from Gandhinagar had always aspired to be a Collector. However, she was detected with brain tumour seven months ago. As her condition deteriorated, she underwent a surgery in August this year.
Meanwhile, Make-A-Wish Foundation contacted the Ahmedabad Collectorate and informed the authorities about Flora Asodia, her condition and her wish.
Subsequently, Ahmedabad Collector Sandip Sangle approached her parents who, though reluctant because of her deteriorating condition, accepted the offer.
Flora Asodia was made the Collector of Ahmedabad for a day on September 19. She was gifted a Barbie doll set and a tab and even cut her birthday cake in her “office”.
Collector mourns Flora’s death
After her death, the Ahmedabad Collector tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the loss of brave little girl Flora Asodia. Heavy hearted tribute to an exceptionally brilliant child and a soul full of faith, courage and strength. Condolences to the family. Our Fondest memories will be cherished forever. Rest in Peace and in Power”
