The first flight carrying stranded Indians from abroad will land at Kochi in Kerala on Thursday night. The flight with 175 people on board will land in Kochi from Abu Dhabi at around 9.40 pm. The Air India flight will leave from UAE at 4.15 pm. The second flight with stranded Indians will also land in Kerala. This flight will have 175 passengers and will take off from Dubai to land in Kozhikode at around 10:30 PM.
India began the repatriation of its stranded citizens from various parts of the world Thursday onwards. It will be bringing back 14,600 of its citizens in 64 flights from 12 different countries. This includes UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore; Bangladesh, US and UK. 25 flights will be from the gulf region with UAE alone accounting for 10 of these flights.
The maximum number of flights will land in Kerala which has a high number of expatriates working in the Gulf countries. 15 flights will land in Kerala from May 7 onwards. The second highest number of flights will land in Tamil Nadu and NCR region (11). Maharashtra and Telangana will see seven flights each while Gujarat will see 5 flights. Karnataka and J&K will have three flights each while one each will land in Punjab and UP.
