First coronavirus patient discharged from SVP Hospital after treatment

Amid all the negative developments in Gujarat due to coronavirus and the subsequent lockdown, an important development has taken place in the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Hospital in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Notably, the hospital has successfully treated and discharged a COVID-19 patient after he tested negative for the virus.

Sources in the hospital said that the patient has fully recovered after 10 days of care and management. The patient, a 34-year-old woman, tested negative twice in the last 24 hours. She has been discharged as per protocols, the hospital informed.

The woman was admitted to the hospital on March 18 with symptoms akin to coronavirus. She tested positive for the contagious disease.

As of now, the biggest challenge for the state authorities is to contain the spread of the virus, especially the cases of local transmission. Notably, out of the 58 positive cases of the virus till Sunday morning, 27 cases are of local transmission, whereas 28 cases are of people who have returned from abroad.

Meanwhile, several people who have completed the 14-day incubation period under quarantine and have shown no symptoms of the virus are being discharged after following the set parameters. Till Sunday, 19,661 people have been put under quarantine.
