A major fire broke out in Gujarat’s Morbi district on Sunday morning. The fire broke out in a clock manufacturing unit. Fortunately, no casualty has been reported due to the fire.
The fire erupted at around 4 am in a moulding unit of the Ajanta Manufacturing Limited (Oreva Group) and soon engulfed other parts of the premises. Firefighters from Rajkot and Morbi were deployed to douse the flames and after a lot of efforts, the fire was brought under control.
What the fire department said
As per the fire department, the fire broke out in the moulding and paint department of the company at around 4 am. While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, a short circuit is likely the reason behind the fire, fire officials said.
The officials said that the fire spread quickly and covered the entire building within minutes. The machinery, clock parts and plastic raw material were gutted in the fire. Six fire tenders and two water bowsers were pressed into service, officials of the Morbi fire department said, adding that the flames were doused after several hours and cooling operations continued for hours.
There have been several incidents of industrial fires in Gujarat in the recent past. Apart from industrial fires, several fire accidents took place in hospitals resulting in the death of patients availing treatment at the facilities.
