Father-son thrashed by cops in Jamnagar for violating COVID-19 norms


After Tamil Nadu, a case of a father-son duo being allegedly thrashed for violating COVID-19 norms in Kalavad police station of Jamnagar district in Gujarat has emerged.

Ghanshyam Udeshi and his son Nishant were allegedly thrashed inside a police station for not wearing a mask. The two have been admitted to a hospital.

A head constable and three constables have been suspended in this connection. The two have also been booked for assaulting policemen, local media reports said.

Jamnagar District Superintendent of Police Sharad Singhal was quoted by the media as saying that the cops involved in the incident have been suspended and a case has also been registered against the father-son duo.

The duo also lodged an FIR against the policemen of the Kalavad police station

The complaint said that the cops found Nishant Udeshi in his shop without a mask in violation of COVID-19 norms. When they questioned him about the same an argument followed.

The cops then took the two to the police station where they were allegedly thrashed. The police in their complaint said they were attacked by the two when they asked them to wear a mask.
