- Twitter CEO says company had discussions with Musk
San Francisco: Tesla CEO Elon Musk will not be joining the board of microblogging site Twitter, the latter’s CEO Parag Agrawal tweeted on Monday.
Elon Musk was to join the Twitter board on Saturday. However, he informed the company that he would not be able to take up the position.
Along with his tweet, Agrawal posted a note that he had sent to the company.
Announcing Musk’s decision to not join the board, Agrawal said the board had several discussions within itself as well as with the Tesla chief directly.
“We were excited to collaborate and clear about the risks. We also believed that having Elon as a fiduciary of the company, where he, like all board members, has to act in the best interests of the company and all our shareholders, was the best path forward,” he said.
Agrawal added that Elon Musk was to join the board on April 9, but informed them that morning that he would “no longer be joining the board”.
“I believe this is for the best. We have and will always value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not. Elon is our biggest shareholder and we will remain open to his input,” Agrawal said further in the note.
