Eknath Shinde and team to return to Mumbai for floor test


Guwahati/Mumbai: Former Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and other rebel MLAs from the party who are currently camping in Guwahati in Assam will be returning to Mumbai for the floor test in the state Assembly which has been scheduled for Thursday.

Eknath Shinde said they would go to Mumbai on Thursday, news agency PTI reported.

He has named Deepak Kesarkar as the spokesperson of the rebel group. He also repeated his earlier stand that they were carrying forward Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva.

Meanwhile, the petition seeking stay on the floor test will come for urgent hearing in the Supreme Court at 5 pm on Wednesday.

The petition was filed by Shiv Sena chief whip Sunil Prabhu challenging Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s order to CM Uddhav Thackeray to prove his majority support on Thursday.

Rebel group donates Rs 51 lakh to Assam CM relief fund

Prior to leaving the state, the rebel group led by Eknath Shinde donated Rs 51 lakh for relief work for people hit by the floods.
