Media reports said that gangster Vikas Dubey, who was killed in an encounter on July 10, earned Rs 1 crore a month. A media channel Hindustan quoted Enforcement Directorate officials as saying that they are now trying to trace the money that Dubey had as he lived simply and his bank balance was also nothing unusual.
The report said that the agency is now looking at the bank balance of Dubey’s close aides and the transactions they did.The report quoted sources as saying that Dubey had a monthly earnings of Rs90 lakh to Rs1.20 crore and the agency is on the lookout for those who managed his funds.
Dubey had his men gun down eight policemen who went to arrest him in Bikru village in Kanpur on July 3. Probe later revealed that he was tipped off by cops of the local police station. He fled and later was arrested from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on July 9. He allegedly tried to escape while being brought to Kanpur and was shot and killed in an encounter on July 10.
Earlier Dubey’s associates, Prem Prakash Pandey, Atul Dubey and Amar Dubey were killed in an encounter.
