Surat: After receiving the fighter aircraft Rafale, the strength of Indian Air Force is expected to increase significantly. After this jet India has got a tremendous edge on the air front in Asian countries. This jet can simultaneously beat enemies from ground to sky. You can guess its strength only by the fact that Pakistan will need two F-16 aircraft to stop a Rafale. Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday flagged off the 51st K-9 Vajra-T gun at the Larsen and Toubro Armoured Systems Complex at Hazira, Surat.
The gun weighs 50 tonnes and can fire 47kg bombs at 43-kilometre distant targets. It can also turn around at zero radius. L&T had in 2017 won the Rs 4,500-crore contract from the Ministry of defence to supply 100 units of K9 Vajra-T 155 mm/52 calibre tracked self-propelled gun systems to the Indian Army under the Centre’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Singh said in his speech that he salutes the commitment and hardwork of employees of L&T as the company’s Hazira complex is a sign of “new thinking of new India”. He said, “I see this complex has a new and astonishing achievement. There were many sectors in India where private sectors participation was almost nil. Defence sector was one such example.”
He further said, “Under the ‘Make in India’ scheme, the government has taken many steps that will make the country a net exporter of arms in future. The government has simplified the process of giving licences for defence manufacturing, established two defence industrial corridors and created a defence investors cell at the Ministry of Defence.”
He said, “Today, when I saw the K-9 Vajra-T gun, I could see strong gun, but more than that, I could see a strong India… In defence, this is a brilliant example of Make in India.”

Under this MOU, this company was ordered to make 100 guns. At present, the company has made 10 which have been sent for testing in Rajasthan. These tanks are protected from biological attack and are capable of dropping three shells simultaneously in 15 seconds.
Taking part in the flagship ceremony, Rajnath Singh said that, “The Indian Army has been equipped with very strong and modern weapons today. The engine of 100 horsepower makes this tank powerful. It is equipped with automatic loaded capability and is capable of killing enemy up to 40 km. Rajnath said here that defense investment cell will be formed for the first time in the country will see modernization and investment of the country’s armed system with self-sufficiency.”
According to experts, after induction of this vessel into the army, India can get a lot of help in ground war. This cannon has a firepower from Gujarat directly to Karachi.
