Gandhinagar: The state government has issued a promotion order after 6 years of retirement to former IPS DG Vanzara of Gujarat 1987 batch, DG Vanzara retired in 2014. The government gave him a promotion from the old date. After the new order, Vanzara will be deemed to have been appointed as IGP since 2007. In such a situation, now they will get benefit in promotion as well as salary and pension.

The Gujarat government had issued this order on Tuesday. He has been appointed as IGP since 29 September 2007. It is to be known that Vanzara was ordered to be freed by the CBI court last year in the case of Ishrat Jahan encounter. Vanzara argued that before the charge sheet filed against him by making him an accused in this case, according to Section 197 of the CrPC, the CBI did not take the approval of the state government. So he should be freed. Hearing all the parties in this matter, the DG Vanzara and fellow police officers were freed after taking into account the issue of action without the approval of the state government.

In 2004, Ishrat Jahan, Javed Zeeshan, and Amjad were killed near the Qatarpur Border by the Ahmedabad Police. The police claimed that these four were terrorists and had come here with the intention of killing the Chief Minister and the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In this case, Ishrat Jahan’s mother filed a writ petition in Gujarat High Court and demanded an inquiry into this encounter. Along with this, Vanzara has been tried in the case of Sohrabuddin encounter, but after acquitting both these cases, the Gujarat government has taken this big decision.
