Delhi Police Head constable Ratan Lal died on Monday in the violence erupted in Northeast Delhi over the Citizenship Amendment Act. The officer’s body is taken to his residence in Burari in north Delhi and then to his native village Fathepur Tihwali in Rajasthan’s Sikar district where cremation is scheduled. The Family members of slain Delhi Police constable Ratan Lal have blocked the road leading to his village in Rajasthan. The family is occupying the road and demanding that Ratan Lal be given the status of a martyr.
Several police personnel, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Shahdara, Amit Sharma, were injured while trying to quell the protests. The hard work of the protesters paid off and the Central Government announced the martyr Ratan Lal as well as the package of the martyr.
In front of the media and protesters, MP Sumedhanand Maharaj announced that one person from the family of matyr Ratan Lal got a government job and a package of Rs 1 crore and all other facilities that a martyr gets. The central government sent us in writing. After this, the protesters blocked the road.
