New Delhi: Number of important decisions were taken in the meeting of Academic Council of Delhi University which lasted till late night on Friday. Mohammad Allama Iqbal, the famous poet of undivided India and author of ‘Saare Jahan Se Achcha Hindustan Hamara’, has been removed from the Political Science graduate course. Besides, many other major decisions were taken in the meeting.

Savarkar in 4th semester, Gandhiji in 7th semester
Apart from this, a complete paper of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar has been included in the syllabus. It will be taught in the fourth semester. Earlier, Savarkar was taught in the sixth semester. But only one chapter was included in it. Besides, a paper on Mahatma Gandhi has been kept in the seventh semester. Earlier Gandhiji was taught in the fourth semester. Many members have also opposed the decisions taken in the meeting of Academic Council Delhi University.
Reforms in LGBT curriculum as well
Reforms have also been made in the LGBT curriculum taught in the graduation class. At the end of the agenda, there was a proposal to convert the BLED program taught in eight colleges into ITEP. The teachers are constantly opposing it. On Friday, students protested against ITEP in Delhi University.
ABVP welcomes the decision
Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad – ABVP has welcomed the decision to remove Mohammad Allama Iqbal’s paper from the Political Science course of Delhi University. It is said in a statement that Mohammad Iqbal is called the father of philosophy of Pakistan. He had an important contribution in the establishment of the Muslim League. Like Mohammad Ali Jinnah, he is also responsible for the partition of India.
