Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Thursday reversed his order that mandated all COVID-19 patients to visit state-run COVID-19 facilities for a check up. In a tweet, Baijal said only COVID-19 patients who do not have adequate facilities at home to ensure physical segregation and do not have other medical conditions would be shifted to Covid care centres and other facilities.
The earlier decision of Baijal mandating mandatory visit to state run COVID-19 facilities for all patients had been opposed by the Arvind Kejriwal government. The decision was taken at the meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) headed by the Lt Governor.
“The L-G has agreed to revert to the old system where a team led by the district surveillance officer (DSO) will visit the house of the COVID-19 positive patient to decide whether home isolation can be recommended,” Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.
