New Delhi: Voting is going on for 70 seats for Delhi Assembly Elections. In Delhi 19.37% voting has been done till 1 pm. Till 12 noon it was 15.68% and by 11 o’clock 15% voting was done. Due to the mild cold in morning, the number of voters at polling booth was seen less but by the afternoon the voters increased. Voting is going on peacefully in Shaheen Bagh. Till 11 pm, 30% polling was registered in Shaheen Bagh school and 35% on Shaheen Bagh booth number 8.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, former President Hamid Ansari, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and many other leaders voted in Delhi. In Delhi, 13,750 poll booth have been set up for voting. There are 672 candidates in the fray for 70 seats. These include 148 independents. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani and his daughter Pratibha Advani cast their votes at the polling booth at Aurangzeb Lane.
In Laxmi Nagar, a groom voted before marriage and danced fiercely with his family members at the booth. Polling started late due to technical fault in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in many areas including Yamuna Vihar in the capital. Voting began for the 70 seats of Delhi Assembly amid tight security arrangements at 8 am today which will continue till 6 pm.
