Bhuj: With no arrest made yet in the case of brutal attack on a Dalit family in Bhachau, Kutch MP Vinod Chavda has written to state Home minister Harsh Sanghavi demanding immediate arrest of the guilty.

The incident took place in Ner village under the jurisdiction of Bhachau police.

As per case details, a Dalit family had gone to the Ram temple in Ner village to participate in the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony. Angered by their entry in the temple, a group of people attacked them brutally.

The family was attacked on October 26.

Two FIRs were registered in the matter, as per DySP Kishorsinh Zala.

One was by Govind Vaghela and another by his father Jagabhai. They claimed they were attacked by 20 persons.

The FIR alleges that the accused also stole a mobile phone and damaged the complainant’s rickshaw.

Six persons were injured in the attack. They were all treated at a general hospital in Bhuj.

The police have formed eight teams to arrest the accused, but so far no arrest has been made in the case.

Congress leader Jignesh Mewani tweeted on Saturday, “A family was brutally attacked by people of in Kutch district of Gujarat for entering a temple. @RDAMIndia team has been assisting the family and an FIR has been registered. BJP-led Gujarat government is a mute spectator as always.”
