In an unfortunate event, three children, including a newborn, lost their lives after a rickshaw they were travelling in plunged into a lake in Gujarat’s Dahod district. The incident took place near the Nani Doki village on Sunday.
The newborn baby’s mother and another woman who was also travelling in the autorickshaw got injured in the incident, whereas the autorickshaw driver fled the spot.
Following a hue and cry, the Dahod police immediately reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the three children from the lake.
As per the available details, Rangali Mavi (25), a resident of Chosala village in Dahod, was pregnant. When her labour pain started, two women from her village, along with their two kids, had taken Rangali to Retia Primary Health centre for delivery.
Woman was returning home after delivery
Rangali delivered a healthy baby at Retia that left her family overjoyed. After discharge from the health centre, she was returning with her newborn and two other kids along with a woman in an autorickshaw on Sunday.
However, before she could reach home, the rickshaw plunged into a 30 feet deep lake and all the three children, including the newborn, died in the incident. The two other injured women were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Those who died include 6-year old Priyanka Baria, 5-year-old Aryan Mavi and the newborn baby. Those who got injured include 25-year-old Rangali Mavi and 60-year-old Sita Baria.
Following the incident, there is a wave of mourning in the village. The families that have lost their children are also devastated and demanded strong action against the autorickshaw driver.
Meanwhile, after the bodies were brought out from the water, the police have sent them for post-mortem. Police have also registered a case in this regard and started its investigation. The autorickshaw driver is still absconding and the police are trying to nab him.
