Ganjam: The Odisha and Andhra Pradesh administration are bracing up for cyclone Gulab which is expected to hit the two states on Sunday evening.
Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Chhatisgarh are likely to receive heavy rains due to the cyclone.
The depression over Bay of Bengal has intensified and is likely to make landfall on Sunday.
In view of the cyclone Gulab, a yellow alert has been issued in parts of Andhra Pradesh as well as Odisha.
According to the weather department, the cyclone, which may intensify further, will hit Gopalpur in Odisha and Kalingapatnam in Andra Pradesh on Sunday evening.
Ganjam district Collector has announced that beaches will remain closed for the next days in view of the heavy rains and strong winds.
Fishermen have been directed not to venture into the sea.
