A crowd of over 3000 people allegedly gathered near Khodiyarnagar area in Vadodara unmindful of the COVID-19 danger and breaking every social distancing rule and corona guidelines.
A religious function of the Devipujak Community was held at Khodiyarnagar which was allegedly attended by over 3,000 people.
Interestingly, no permission was taken for this function where such a mass gathering occurred. None of the attendees wore a mask nor was any social distancing maintained at the programme. The police swung into action after reports of the gathering went viral.
Cops have booked the person who organised the event and six people have been booked for violation of notification and under sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act.
It has also emerged that the crowd that had gathered in Vadodara had also planned to go to Mehsana by foot.
COVID-19 in Vadodara
Earlier officer on Special Duty Vinod Rao had released the list of number of patients from outside Vadodara who were cremated or buried in the district as per COVID-19 protocol.
The list came after elected representatives of both the Congress and BJP alleged manipulation in COVID-19 data death.
As per the list, 160 patients from outside Vadodara district died during COVID-19 treatment or were suspected or recovered cases in various hospitals in the city from September 1 to 19.
Vadodara has been recording on an average 90 plus COVID-19 cases and reporting one or two deaths almost every day. 166 people have died due to the disease so far in the state.
Gujarat COVID-19 status
Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Monday touched 1,24,767 as the state recorded 1,430 new cases. This the fourth consecutive day of the state recording over 1400 cases in a day. The state has in all recorded 16,337 active cases of which 89 are on ventilator support.
Gujarat COVID-19 fatalities were 17 due to the disease. Of this, six were in Surat while three were in Ahmedabad. Vadodara had four deaths while Bhavnagar had two. Gir-Somnath and Rajkot had one fatality each.
Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, three were in AMC limits while two were in SMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,339.
The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,786.
