CR Patil recovers from COVID-19, to be discharged on Wednesday


BJP Gujarat president CR Patil on Tuesday tweeted that his latest RT-PCR tests had returned negative. This was his third RT-PCR test. Patil said that he will be discharged from Apollo Hospital on Wednesday.

He also thanked the party worker and well-wishers who prayed for his recovery. BJP spokesperson Bharat Panday who had also tested positive around the same time as CR Patil has also recovered and has been discharged from the UN Mehta Hospital where he was under treatment.

Pandya also thanked the staff, doctors and his well-wishers for his recovery.

CR Patil’s second test report was positive

Earlier on Monday, CR Patil’s second COVID-19 report returned positive. He was under treatment at the Apollo Hospital in the city.
Initially, when news of Patil testing positive began doing the rounds, the BJP president had tweeted saying that his Antigen test had been negative and he was not COVID-19 infected.

He nevertheless got himself admitted to hospital and eventually, he had tested positive. Interestingly, his son Jignesh Patil had tweeted saying his father was COVID-19 positive but quickly deleted the tweet.

Media reports quoted doctors as saying that despite him testing positive a second time, the overall load of the virus in his body was on the decline.

Before he tested positive, CR Patil had been addressing rallies and meeting party workers in Saurashtra and North Gujarat. In several such meetings, media reports had pointed to a lack of social distancing and whether it was appropriate to hold such meets.

Earlier a welcome rally in Surat also saw a surge in crowd resulting in Patil having to cancel the event. There too social distancing had gone for a toss.

Interestingly, several other leaders and party workers who attended the rallies of Patil have also tested positive.
