A report has been submitted to the state government in connection with the case in which a man , who tested positive for Covid19 and was under treatment at Civil Hospital, was found dead at a bus stand in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had asked former principal secretary (health) JP Gupta to probe the incident and submit a report within 24 hours.
Those in the know said that in the report it was stated that as per the Centre’s guidelines, the patient was sent home on May 14, for home isolation. The report said that since the patient had only complained of a sore throat and showed no other symptoms, he was sent home via an AMTS bus arranged by the hospital.
The body of Chhagan Makwana, 67 was found lying unattended at the bus station on Friday in Danilimda area by a security guard and the man‘s family has accused the hospital staff of failing to inform them.
Media reports quoted officer on special duty for Covid 19 at Civil Hospital, MM Prabhakar as saying that it could be possible that the man was dropped at the bus stand as there was a crowd near his house. It is however not known whether the hospital authorities had informed his family about his discharge.
Makwana was admitted to the Civil Hospital and tested positive on May 13. His family was also placed under quarantine.
