Gujarat records 21,225 new Covid-19 cases, 16 deaths in 24 hours


Gandhinagar: Gujarat recorded 21,225 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours ending Friday evening, a drop from the previous day’s tally of 24,485.  Sixteen patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The death toll due to Covid in the state reached 10,215.


8.6k new cases in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad city recorded 8,627 new cases, followed by Vadodara city with 2,432, Surat city 2,124 and Rajkot city 1,502.

Gandhinagar city recorded 612 cases, Surat rural 452, Bharuch 412, Vadodara rural 409, Bhavnagar 404, Valsad 380, Anand 343, Jamnagar city 330 and Mehsana 314.  Navsari recorded 285, Rajkot rural 252, Morbi 251, Patan 216, Kutch 206, Gandhinagar rural 203. The remaining places recorded less than 200 cases.


16 deaths in 24 hours

A total of 16 patients succumbed to Covid-19 in Gujarat in last 24 hours.

Ahmedabad accounted for 8 of them, which is the highest in the state. Surat city and rural recorded 2 deaths each and Vadodara city and rural, Kheda, Bhavnagar rural 1 each.


9.2k recoveries

A total of 9,254 patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours. The overall recovery is more than 8.95 crore, which is 87.58 per cent of the total cases.

The active caseload of Covid in Gujarat has crossed 1.16 lakh.

Of these, 172 are on ventilator.


2.1 lakh vaccinated

More than 2.1 lakh individuals were vaccinated for Covid-19 in last 24 hours.

The cumulative vaccination figure in Gujarat has crossed 9.6 crore.


AMC declared 42 new micro-containment zones

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation declared 42 new micro-containment zones in the city on Friday. With this, the total active micro-containment zones in Ahmedabad city has reached 165.

The maximum, 18, of the new spots are in the south-west zone. Even within this, Jodhpur and Sarkhej wards have the maximum micro-containment zones.
