As a thank you for the risks that they take to ensure success in the battle against Coronavirus, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has said that it will provide free quarantine facilities to corona warriors. AMC commissioner Vijay Nehra said that doctors, nurses, and other staff including policemen on duty who are helping battle the disease will be first offered home quarantine option in case they are found to be positive. If that is not possible, the staff can choose to be quarantined in a 4-star or 5-star hotel and the expense for which will be borne by the civic body.
It has also created additional 300 bed covid care facilities in Gomtipur, Jamalpur and Pirana. Nehra also said that 30% of all the deaths due ot Covid19 reported in the city was from Jamalpur and it was due to the mass violation of lockdown that was happening there. He urged the citizens to follow lockdown rules for the next two weeks and it will definitely help the city battle the disease.
Meanwhile the AMC has distributed free masks to 27,000 vendors in the city and collected a fine of Rs7 lakh from shopkeepers and vendors so far for not wearing a mask.
