Gujarat on Wednesday recorded 1144 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
This is the third time that the number of per day cases in Gujarat has crossed the 1100 mark.
The overall number of COVID-19 cases have now crossed the 59,000 mark.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 59,118.
The state has recorded over 1000 cases six times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days.
It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
Death due to corona in Gujarat
Gujarat recorded 24 new deaths due to the disease on Wednesday.
Of the total deaths, 11 were recorded in Surat, five in Ahmedabad and three in Vadodara.
Patan and Rajkot recorded two cases each while Mehsana had one case.
With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 2,396.
The COVID-19 death toll is 1589 for Ahmedabad, 396 for Surat, 76 for Vadodara and 42 for Gandhinagar.
Surat recorded 291 new cases, while Ahmedabad had 152 cases.
Of the total cases recorded in Ahmedabad and Surat, 207 and 141 cases respectively were recorded within the city limits.
Vadodara recorded 95 new cases while state capital Gandhinagar had 50 new cases.
Corona related other statistics
The state has in all recorded 13535 active cases of which 89 are on a ventilator.
Gujarat ranks 13th in new cases of COVID-19 being recorded across the country.
It ranks ninth in the number of active COVID-19 patients in India.
The state has conducted over 7.13 lakh sample tests for the disease while 4.83 lakh people remain in quarantine in various districts of Gujarat.
Of this, 4.81 lakh people are under home quarantine. The state said it is carrying out 352.52 tests per million.
