Three more zones in the city have been declared as red zones taking the total number of such zones to nine. AMC Commissioner Vijay Nehra on Friday said that Saraspur, Gomtipur and Asarwa have been added to the list of red zones in the city due to an increase in number of Covid19 cases being reported from there. The other red zones in the city are Khadia, Danilimda, Jamalpur, Shahpur, Behrampura and Dariapur. The city has a total of 39 orange zones and zero green zones.
Meanwhile, 249 new cases were reported in the city by Thursday evening while 12 more succumbed to the disease. The active cases in the city stands at 2,470 of which 46 are on ventilators. On Friday, 18 more patients were discharged taking the total number of discharged patients to 412.
Friday onward masks have been made compulsory for street vendors and shop owners. As part of its initiative to prevent the spread of Covid 19 the municipal body has distributed 20,270 masks and 4,054 bottles of sanitizers.
104 teams of AMC have spread across the city to ensure the implementation of the rule with 1,326 people being fined for flouting the same. In a span of two hours over Rs3 lakh has been recovered by these teams as penalty for not following the norms with four units were sealed for breaking the rule. Nehra said that the effective implementation of steps to prevent Covid19 cannot be done by the civic body alone and citizens had to co-operate too.
Over 28,000 people have been tested in the city so far with 4672 test per million being carried out within AMC limits.
