The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Gujarat has increased to 58 on Sunday after three new cases of the virus were reported from the state.
With the addition of the new cases, now Ahmedabad has 21 positive cases, followed by nine cases each in Vadodara and Gandhinagar. Eight cases of coronavirus have been reported from Rajkot, seven cases of the virus have been reported from Surat and one case each has been reported from Bhavnagar, Kutch, Gir-Somnath, and Mehsana.
Health secretary Jayanti Ravi said all the three patients who tested positive for COVID-19 are cases of local transmission and are from Ahmedabad, which includes a 67-year-old woman.
Notably, the state has recorded eight fresh cases on Saturday. The fresh cases include a 66-year-old man in Vadodara with a travel history of the UK, an 81-year-old man from Gandhinagar, a 52-year-old man from Mehsana, a 70-year-old man from Ahmedabad with a travel history of Indore, a 33-year-old man from Ahmedabad, and a 45-year-old woman from Ahmedabad.
This apart, a 25-year-old man in Gandhinagar and a 65-year-old person in Gir-Somnath with a travel history of Saudi Arabia had tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.
The death toll due to coronavirus in the state has also increased to five after one confirmed case of the virus, a 45-year-old man, died in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Sources said the man was suffering from diabetes. It was the third death in Ahmedabad. One death has been reported each from Surat and Bhavnagar.

The health secretary informed that 19,661 persons in Gujarat are under quarantine and those who have not shown any symptoms of the virus after completing the 14-day incubation period will be released.
