Covid-19 cases drop below 9k; India records 8,865 new cases, 197 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: The number of new case of Covid-19 in the country dropped further. The country reported 8,865 fresh cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Tuesday morning. This is the lowest single-day tally in 287 days. As many as 197 patients succumbed to the infection in 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate is 0.8 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.97 per cent.

The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is 1.30 lakh, accounting for 0.3 per cent of the overall case tally. It is also the lowest in last 525 days.

 

98.27% recovery

The recovery rate for Covid-19 reached 98.27 per cent with 11,971 patients getting cured of the infection in last 24 hours. The overall recovery till now is more than 3.38 crore.

More than 62.57 crore samples have been tested for Covid till now, of which over 11.07 lakh were carried out on Monday.

 

59.75 lakh vaccinated in a day

Over 1.12 billion doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country till now under the nationwide vaccination drive. Of these, over 59.75 lakh doses were administered on Monday, according to the ministry.

 

29 new cases in Gujarat

As many as 29 persons tested positive for Covid in 24 hours ending Monday evening. The death toll stands at 10,090. The active caseload in the state is 235.

The recovery rate is 98.75 per cent.

So far, more than 7.48 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the state.
