Daily Covid-19 cases are continuously reducing in the country. India recorded 7,171 new Covid-19 cases, raising the tally to 4.49 crore, while the number of active cases has decreased to 51,314, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday. The active cases now comprise 0.11 per cent of the total infections, it said. The cases are 5 per cent less with comparison to the cases recorded on Friday. 40 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. This includes 15 fatalities reconciled by Kerala. With 40 deaths, the death count has increased to 5,31,508 data updated by the ministry on Saturday at 8 am stated.Reportedly, the new XBB.1.16 variant, named Arcturus, is responsible for the recent surge in infections.
Continuous reduction in Cases
According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, 7,533 new cases of Corona were reported in the last 24 hours yesterday. On Thursday the figure was at 9,335 while on Wednesday, the figure was 9,629. Prior to that more than 10 thousand new cases of Covid-19 were being recorded every day.
Gujarat logs 179 new Covid-19 cases
Gujarat recorded 179 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday. While 285 patients have recovered from the infection. Ahmedabad, was at the top in the tally with 55 cases, whereas Baroda 38, Surat 28, Mehsana 11, Bharuch 9, and Gandhinagar reported 7 new cases of Covid – 19. Currently, there are total 1396 active cases in the state, out of which 7 patients are being treated on ventilator.
Recovery rate 98.70%
The national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.70 per cent, according to the health ministry website. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,43,56,693 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.
According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid – 19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far.
