Covid-19: India records 9,283 cases, 437 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: The number of new cases of Covid-19 in India increased in last 24 hours. The country recorded 9,283 fresh cases of infection during this period, the health ministry said on Wednesday morning. As many as 437 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The daily positivity rate is 0.8 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.93 per cent.

The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is 1.11 lakh, accounting for 0.32 per cent of overall case tally. It is also the lowest in 537 days.

Over 63.47 crore samples have been tested for Covid till now.


98.33% recovery

As many as 10,949 patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours. The overall recovery has crossed 3.39 crore, which is 98.33 per cent recovery rate.


76.58 lakh vaccinated in a day

The overall vaccination has crossed 1.18 billion (118.44 crore). Of these, 75.58 lakh doses were administered in last 24 hours.


36 new cases in Gujarat

Gujarat recorded 36 new cases of Covid in 24 hours ending Tuesday evening. One more patient succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll to 10,092.

As many as 25 patients recovered during this period. The recovery rate is 98.74 per cent, with 8.16 lakh having been cured of the infection.

The active caseload of Gujarat at present is 319.

Ahmedabad city continued to report the maximum cases. Of the 36 new cases, 17 were in Ahmedabad city, followed by 6 in Vadodara city.
