Covid-19: India records 9,216 new cases, 391 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: The country recorded 9,216 fresh cases of Covid-19 infection in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Friday morning. As many as 391 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The active caseload of Covid in the country rose to 99,976.

The daily positivity rate is 0.8 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.84 per cent.


98.35% recovery

The number of recoveries in last 24 hours remained lower than the daily case tally. As many as 8,612 patients recovered from the infection during this period.

With over 3.4 crore total recoveries, the recovery rate is 98.35 per cent.

More than 64.46 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the country till now. Of these, 11.57 lakh were carried out on Thursday.


More than 1.25 crore vaccine doses administered

Crossing yet another milestone, the country’s vaccination figure is now over 125.75 crore. Over 73.67 lakh doses were administered across India in last 24 hours, taking the overall vaccination under the nationwide programme to more than 125 crore on Thursday.


50 new cases in Gujarat

The number of Covid-19 cases in Gujarat is on the rise. In 24 hours ending Thursday evening, the state recorded 50 new cases. One death was reported from Rajkot rural.

Within the state, the maximum number of cases, 15, was recorded from Ahmedabad city. Surat city and Vadodara rural reported 6 cases each, Rajkot rural and Vadodara city 4 each, Kutch 3, Bhavnagar city 2.

Anand, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar city, Gir Somnath, Jamnagar city, Navsari, Rajkot city, Surat rural, Tapi and Valsad had 1 case each.

The recovery was less than half the number of cases.

A total of 24 patients recovered from Covid-19 in Gujarat in 24 hours.
