Covid-19: India records 8,318 cases, 465 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: While the daily tally of Covid-19 cases in India has reduced, the mortality continues to be a concern. In the last 24 hours, as many as 465 patients succumbed to the infection, the health ministry said on Saturday morning. A total of 8,318 persons tested positive for the infection during this period.

The death toll is almost 4.68 lakh.

The active caseload dropped further to 1.07 lakh, which is 0.31 per cent. It is the lowest in 541 days.

The daily positivity rate is 0.86 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.88 per cent.


98.34% recovery

As many as 10,967 patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours. The recovery till now is more than 3.39 crore, which is 98.34 per cent of the overall case tally.

More than 63.82 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 till now. Of these, 9.69 lakh were conducted on Friday.


Vaccination crosses 1.21 billion

More than 1.21 billion (121.06 crore) doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country till now under the nation-wide vaccination campaign. More than 73.58 lakh doses were administered in last 24 hours.


27 fresh cases of Covid in Gujarat

Twenty-seven persons tested positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours ending Friday evening. As many as 34 patients recovered during this period.

The recovery rate is 98.74 per cent.
