Covid-19: India records 7,231 new cases in 24 hours


New Delhi: The country recorded 7,231 new cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, the Union Health ministry said on Wednesday morning.

The overall death toll has reached 5,27,874.

The daily positivity rate was 2.05 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 2.55 per cent.

Around 3.52 lakh samples were tested for Covid-19 in last 24 hours, taking the cumulative testing figure to over 88.58 crore.


98.67% recovery

A total of 22,031 patients recovered from Covid in last 24 hours. So far, over 4.38 crore recoveries have been registered, which is 98.67 per cent of the total case tally.

The active caseload has declined to 64,667, or 0.15 per cent of the cases recorded till now.


22.5 lakh vaccinated

Over 22.5 lakh persons received the Covid vaccine in the country on Tuesday. So far, over 2.12 billion (212.39 crore) doses have been administered across the country under the nationwide vaccination drive. Of these, 15.86 crore are precaution doses.
