Covid-19 cases drop to a fresh low; India records 6,990 cases in 24 hours

  • The daily tally of Covid-19 cases is lowest in 551 days

 

New Delhi: The number of Covid-19 cases in the country declined to a 551-day low. The country recorded 6,990 new cases in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Tuesday morning. A total of 190 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The active caseload of Covid cases in the country is just over 1 lakh now, which is the lowest in 546 days. It accounts for 0.29 per of the overall case tally.

The daily positivity rate is 0.69 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.84 per cent.

 

98.35% recovery

As many as 10,116 patients recovered from the infection in last 24 hours. The recovery till now is more than 3.40 lakh, which is 98.35 per cent of the total case tally.

Over 64.13 crore samples have been tested for Covid till now, of which 10.12 lakh were conducted on Monday.

 

1.23 bn vaccine doses administered

More than 78.8 lakh doses of Covid vaccine were administered in the country on Monday. So far, more than 1.23 billion doses (123.25 crore) have been administered under  the nationwide vaccination programme till now.

 

27 new cases in Gujarat

Gujarat recorded 27 fresh cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours ending Monday evening, while 49 patients recovered from the infection during this period.

The active caseload in the state is 262.

Death toll stands at 10,092.

The recovery rate in the state is 98.75 per cent.
