Covid-19: India reports 42,618 cases, 330 deaths in 24 hours


New Delhi: The number of new cases of Covid-19 on Friday saw a drop of 6 per cent from the previous day. There were 42,618 fresh cases in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Saturday morning. A total of 330 patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The total number of cases reached 3,29,45,907. The daily positivity rate was 2.5 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 2.63 per cent.

The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is 4.05 lakh and constitutes 1.23 per cent of the total cases reported so far.

As many as 3.21 crore have recovered from the infection so far, which is a recovery rate of 97.43 per cent.


67.72 crore vaccine doses administered so far

Over 58.85 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered on Friday. Thus, so far over 67.72 crore doses have been administered across the country.

Meanwhile, the testing capacity has been ramped up, with 52.82 crore tests of Covid-19 conducted so far.

Kerala reported 29,322 cases, the highest in teh country. There were 131 deaths in the state in 24 hours. On Friday, the Supreme Court had stayed an order by the state government to hold offline classes for grade 11. It also ordered exams to be put on hold for a week.
