Covid-19: India records 4,194 new cases, 255 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: India witnessed a significant rise in the daily death toll due to Covid-19. As many as 255 patients succumbed to the infection in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Friday monring. The toll was 104 the previous day.

A total of 4,194 individuals tested positive for Covid during this period.

The daily positivity rate is 0.52 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.55 per cent.

Around 8.12 lakh samples were tested for the infection on Thursday, taking the cumulative testing to over 77.68 crore.

 

98.7% recovery

A total of 6,208 patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours. The cumulative recovery is more than 4.24 crore, which is a recovery rate of 98.7 per cent.

The active caseload stands at 42,219, accounting for 0.1 per cent of the cases recorded till now.

 

16.73 lakh vaccinated on Thursday

Over 16.73 lakh individuals received the Covid vaccine on Thursday. So far, more than 1.79 billion (179.72 crore) doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
