New Delhi: India reported 42,015 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours ending Wednesday morning, as per the health ministry. However, the number of deaths has seen a spike. A total of 3,998 patients succumbed to the infection during this period, which is the highest single-day toll in at least a month.
The active caseload of Covid-19 has further declined to 4.07 lakh and constitutes 1.3 per cent of the total number of cases reported so far.
The weekly positivity rate has dropped to 2.09 per cent, while the daily positivity rate stands at 2.27 per cent.
41.54 crore vaccine jabs have been administered in the country so far.
The testing capacity has been ramped up significantly, with 44.91 crore tests conducted so far.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stressed on the need to properly plan vaccination drives at district level, based on advance availability information.
According to the results of the fourth sero survey in the country announced on Tuesday, 67.6 per cent of the population above the age of 6 has antibodies against coronavirus. This is a steep rise from the results of the third sero survey.
