- The number of deaths was higher than on the previous day
New Delhi: The number of new cases of Covid-19 in India witnessed a drop, with 38,628 patients testing positive for the infection in 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry.
While there has been a drop in the new cases, more people died due to the infection. Against 464 deaths on Thursday, as many as 617 patients succumbed to the infection on Friday.
The daily positivity rate was 2.21 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 2.39 per cent.
The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is 4,12,153 currently, which is 1.29 per cent of total cases. The death toll has reached 4,27,371.
The overall case tally is nearly 3.19 crore.
So far, 3.10 crore patients have recovered from the infection, which is 97.37 per cent of the total cases.
Over 50 crore vaccinated so far
Over 49.55 lakh vaccine doses were administered across the country in 24 hours. Thus, the cumulative vaccination figure crossed 50.10 crore.
Meanwhile, the testing capacity has been ramped up significantly, with 47.83 crore tests conducted for Covid-19 till now.
